全自动softener是将softening器运行及再生的每一个步骤实现自动控制，并采用时间、流量或感应器等方式来启动再生。全自动softener的基本构成为：FLECK或Osmonics-Autotrol多路控制阀、树脂罐（含树脂）、盐箱及管路系统。
RLC自控softener采用钠离子交换树脂将原water中的钙、镁离子置换出去，当树脂吸附到一定量的钙、镁离子后，必须进行再生：用饱和的盐water浸泡树脂把树脂里的钙、镁等离子再置换出来，恢复树脂的softening交换能力，并将废液排出。整个再生过程包括：反洗---松动tree bark层，加盐---发生交换反应冲洗----清除化学反应下来的钙、镁离子注入---为下次再生准备。
